Praised for his back catalogue of over 100 dancefloor gold reggae and hip-hop remixes, Jstar’s work as a producer has also been acclaimed by the likes of Mixmag, David Rodigan, Norman Jay, John Peel, Grandmaster Flash and The Clash’s DJ, Don Letts.
Born and raised in West London under a haze of reggae, rave, funk and hip-hop, Jstar is a true representative of that unique ‘London sound’, a kaleidoscopic melting pot of cultures and styles, heavily influenced by the multicultural UK communities originating in the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia.
True to his roots, his exclusive mix for Mixology represents the Jamaican and American influences on the UK from the 1950s onwards, then the homegrown reproduction and exportation of that sound across the globe, with an undercurrent of politics and social issues.
