Marketing: A framework for a serving mind, a trusting heart, and a patient listener

Marketing is misunderstood as something that drives people to buy, despite it being the lifeblood that preserves societies and economies. This narrow view of marketing has limited its scope to advertising, dropping flyers into letterboxes, and giving away bargains.

Even in the current information age, marketing continues to be seen as making people buy products. The persistence of this view may be because of our social media and search engines. These platforms originally began with noble causes to help us connect with loved ones and search for information. They have now transformed into digital marketplaces, propelled by artificial intelligence to make us buy more. Unfortunately, the good side of marketing remains hidden from most people. Consequently, its ability to make our world a better place is not being utilised.

In this talk, we will learn about the core elements of marketing, its mind, heart, and ears. The goal is to equip ourselves with the right understanding of marketing to make smart choices as consumers.
