Film Adjacent #11 - A Short History of Experimental Cinema

Wellington-based experimental film collective, Film Adjacent, will be hosting monthly screenings at Vogelmorn Bowling Club. Join us the first Thursday of every month for engaging film curations, tasty drinks, and good conversation with the local community. Plan to see the strange, the surreal, the sublime, the political, and everything in between. Film Adjacent focuses on non-narrative approaches to cinema and the powerful exchange between viewer and screen. These films are not likely to be found at our everyday cinema.

For Film Adjacent #11 we have decided to present an expansive selection of short films from across Aotearoa and the world, showcasing the breadth and scope of experimental film. See it as an introduction of sorts. Filmmakers Christopher Thompson and Tyler Shane Tesolin will provide a short introduction to the curation and outline the vision for the collective’s screenings going forward (we invite guest curators so get in touch!) Screening starts at 7pm, although we do encourage everyone to show up early for a drink or bite. The collective is non-profit so all we ask is a koha to help ‘keep the lights on’.
