Westlake Schools' Productions is proud to announce the 2024 Season of Crazy for You (Gershwin) and The Three Musketeers (Dumas).

Crazy for You
Crazy for You is musical theatre at its finest: all-singing, all-dancing, and all comedy! The musical boasts many songs from George and Ira Gershwin that are now considered part of the Great American Songbook, including “I Got Rhythm,” “They Can't Take That Away from Me,” “Embraceable You,” “But Not for Me,” “Nice Work If You Can Get It” and “Someone to Watch Over Me.” The show also possesses a riotously entertaining book by Ken Ludwig, the award-winning author of Lend Me a Tenor and adaptor of The Three Musketeers.

Crazy for You is a zany rich-boy-meets-hometown-girl romantic comedy. Crazy For You tells the story of young New York banker, Bobby Child, who is sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a rundown theatre. In Deadrock, Bobby falls for the spunky Polly Baker. But Polly takes an instant dislike to the city slicker, so Bobby vows – through song, dance, and a hilarious case of mistaken identity – to win Polly’s heart and save the theatre, the town, and its ever-growing population. Crazy for You has a cast of 50 and an orchestra of 30 of Westlakes’ finest talent.

The Three Musketeers
This adaptation by Ken Kudwig – of the classic novel by Alexandre Dumas – is a tale of heroism, treachery, friendships, close escapes, and above all, honour.

The play tells the story of a brother and sister, d’Artagnan and Sabine, who set off for Paris in search of adventure. D’Artagnan hopes to join the valiant King’s Musketeers. Sabine, meanwhile, is being sent to a convent school, but decides quickly that it’s not for her. She’d rather fight by her brother’s side. Cardinal Richelieu has different plans for both of them, but with their new best friends, Athos, Porthos and Aramis by their sides, d’Artagnan and Sabine save the day for king and country.

This adaptation brilliantly combines heroism and comedy in equal measure, with critics agreeing that this is the best adaptation of the novel ever written. The Three Musketeers boats a cast of 65 of Westlakes' finest acting talent.
