Join us for an exciting event at the Auckland Botanic Gardens! Learn all about the fascinating world of companion gardening with fungi. Discover how these amazing organisms can help your plants thrive and create a harmonious garden ecosystem.
During the event, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the beautiful gardens and gain valuable insights from an expert Mycologist on how to successfully and safely identify fungi, get hands-on experience establishing a garden bed with The Garden Giant Stropharia rugosoannulata, and learn practical techniques for incorporating fungi into your gardening practices. What’s more, you’ll get to pick up your own mushroom spawn at checkout to take home and inoculate your own garden!
Facilitated by The Mushroom Smith, this workshop will have an accessible and informal approach and welcomes engagement and questions. There will also be time for a Q&A at end of the workshop, so come prepared with your burning questions.
Don’t miss this chance to enhance your gardening skills and connect with fellow fungi enthusiasts. Mark your calendar for this in-person event at the EcoFest tent in front of the Auckland Botanic Gardens Visitors Centre. See you there!
This event is part of EcoFest, an annual month-long festival taking place Friday 15 March – Sunday 14 April 2024. Inspiring climate action across Tāmaki Makaurau, it is hosted in collaboration by EcoMatters, Kaipātiki Project, Beautification Trust and Waiheke Resources Trust, and proudly supported by Auckland Council.
