Inside the belly of the wooden horse, the Greeks await their plans to attack the city of Troy. Bursting out, they ransack the city, bludgeoning, looting, and destroying everyone and everything in their path.

Troy has fallen.

In Troy’s dockyard, the dethroned Queen, Hecuba, and her Trojan women reflect on their impending allocation to the conquering Greeks. They await their chance to confront Helen of Sparta, whom they blame for their tragic circumstances. Before their journey begins across the stormy waters of the Aegean, they will endure the atrocious consequences of war.

In the greatest anti-war play ever written, Euripides depicts the agony of war and the resilience of those who are left behind. "Euripides not only confronts us with the suffering, but also with a question. If this is what we do to each other […] can it possibly be worth it?" - Don Taylor, The War Plays.

Please note: The content of this play may be upsetting for some viewers, and includes adult themes, depictions of war and death, and references to sexual assault, rape, slavery, and violence.
