Three Young, New, Local Artists That Nobody’s Heard Of? in One Night? and They’re All Doing Wildly Different Kinds of Music?
Are the Organisers Trying to Lose Money?
Wallflower Are a Grunge and Shoegaze Band That Jumps Between Soft, Ethereal Delicateness and Harsh, Crashing Brick Walls of Noise and Screaming with the Expertise of a Band Far Beyond Their Years or Spotify Monthly Listener Numbers,
Keira Batten Coogan is an acoustic singer songwriter so good at what they do that even cynical guys with their arms folded in the back will be won over. Their heartfelt, brilliant songwriting will stop even the most hardened of highbrow dudebros right in the middle of his wonderwall joke.
And Cicada’s Pop-wannabe Indie rock still bears the marks of a principal songwriter’s embarrassing teenage folk-punk phase, but somehow manages to make that work in the band’s favour, with raw, ragged and direct songs about heartbreak and propaganda.
They might not have already earned their place in your hearts, but they’re planning on changing that at Valhalla on the 19th of July.
In a few year’s time, you might look back at that night and say “I was into those guys before they were cool.”
Or you might just say “I had a great time listening to some great new music and getting shitfaced,” but that’d be worth it too.
