Waiheke Musical Museum Presents: Kaha Trio

All Ages

Each year we welcome music students from University of Auckland to perform at Waiheke Musical Museum. This year we are delighted to host the Kaha Trio, with Kotahitanga.

Just like the meaning of their name, the Kaha Trio is composed of three courageous and able musicians: Violinist Lorna Zhang, Cellist Damon Herlihy-O’Brien, and Pianist Madeleine Xiao. They met in 2021 through the Chiron Group of music schools and are currently students at the University of Auckland. Their coaches consist of pre-eminent musicians in the country and they are fortunate to be members of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra’s “Aspiring Musicians program”.

The trio has received opportunities all throughout New Zealand and performs regularly, these include various performances for APO, and other public concerts. This year they were selected to attend the Adam Summer School for Chamber music with the New Zealand String Quartet in Nelson. Apart from their extensive experience in ensemble settings, all members are highly accomplished soloists in their respective instruments.

Later in October they will be involved with the At the World’s Edge Festival where they were all selected as emerging artists. They will be touring and performing alongside internationally renowned musicians in many ensembles and events.
