Experience City Gallery Wellington after hours with Open Late. Let your curiosity take hold, explore our exhibitions and enjoy our changing programme of art, music, screenings, and talks on the first Thursday of the month.

For August, take the time to enjoy and explore. Wander our galleries and join our highlights tours for further insights, take a seat at our screening for a window into the world of diamonds, or create new worlds at our drop-in collage-making. End your night with the deeply layered musical experience of hara.
---
Get hands-on with our collaborative collage experience. Unleash your creativity by mixing and matching our materials with imagination and vision. Use a card to collage something to take home or work together by adding to our communal piece.

What makes a diamond valuable? Find out in our screening of Nothing Lasts Forever (Dir. Jason Kohn, 2022). Questioning the nature and intrinsic value we ascribe to diamonds this documentary will shift the way you think about these jewels forever.

Join one of our expert tour guides to explore our ground floor exhibitions, George Watson: Beauty Incarnate, Ayesha Green: Folk Nationalism, and Nova Paul: Ngā Pūrākau Nō Ngā Rākau. You’ll be introduced to the ideas behind each exhibition as you encounter the artworks, and gain insights into the artists and their practices.

Wrap up the evening with a live performance from hara. hara blends inspiration from folk with Indonesian traditional music, ambient and field recording with a focus on exploring themes of ecology, climate crisis, tradition and rituals, life, grief, and collective care. Her work communicates critical environmental and social issues and is steeped in a deep research practice that honors traditional Javanese rituals and songs.

Through out the night enjoy some of our tasty fixtures; Tuatara beer, Matahiwi estate wine and food from The Hungry Monkey food truck.
