Join us for another fascinating Friends in Focus talk at Tūhura Otago Museum.
The mighty and mysterious moa once populated the length of New Zealand’s main three islands from coast to snowline – but few people realise that the province of Otago was likely home to the largest and most diverse populations of these giants.
Award-winning author, screenwriter, and Emmy nominee Quinn Berentson discusses the moa of Otago and how crucial discoveries in the province, from coastal butcheries to the gold fields of the Dunstan, helped unravel the many mysteries of New Zealand’s legendary bird – and the sad tale of their extinction.
To give you the full moa experience, real moa bones are available to hold and examine after the talk.
