The award-winning, sellout sensation of the summer is coming to Olveston Historic Home as part of the Dunedin Fringe Festival, with another piece of Shakespearean musical magic like you’ve never seen before.
Last year The Barden Party delighted Fringe audiences with its version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream - coming away with the Fringe Excellence Award in the process.
This season, the talented troupe is bringing its musical, raucous ‘rockabilly retelling’ of William Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing. The classic tale of mischief, love and mistaken identity features music from Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen and Dave Dobbyn (to name a few) and promises to be an afternoon not to be missed.
The Barden Party was born in a Nelson backyard during the height of the pandemic as a way to bring joy and laughter safely to people’s homes. Then it became a sell-out across the country, picking up awards and accolades along its 50-show season. They can’t wait to come back to Dunedin Fringe.
