Prepare yourself - this Friday 13th, for the first time ever, two of the capital’s hottest hip-hop acts will be sharing the stage for a one-off live show of epic proportions!
Both forces to be reckoned with in their own right, Raw Collective and Bad Taste are joining forces to provide a full-scale night of biting lyricism, musical virtuosity and big noise, all going down at the iconic Cuba St venue that is San Fran.
Heating things up, we have Wellington's heavyweight hip-hop band ‘Raw Collective’, who are back with another new single hot off the press. This time they’ll be coming in full force, performing as a ten piece, bringing a stomping new setlist, brand new songs and some old classics too. The wonderful Moira Jean returns on vocals with the original full horn section, headed up by Raw Deazy alongside several guest emcees. They will be serving their signature, big sound with classic head nodding grooves and instrumentation from only the best in town!
They will be joined by the two-pronged beast that is ‘Bad Taste’, the brainchild of virtuosic turntablist Alphabethead and lyrical prodigy Young Gho$t. They recently released their sophomore album “Bad Taste II” to rave reviews, and tore the country up from North to South on their first ever national tour. Now they’re returning to their home city for their biggest indoor show yet, and have a bag of new tricks ready to bust out for any unsuspecting audience. Expect the unexpected when these two take the stage!
To set the night in, these two will be supported by ‘Nat Lover’, one of NZs most talented and prolific rappers, and a Raw Co regular who will be warming up the crowd with a classy set of his own. This man brings the real hip-hop vibes with a deep catalogue of releases - prepare for pure dopeness any time he hits the mic!
On DJ duties, we have the talented DJ MonkeyFingerz, a beat making hip hop connoisseur and producer/ DJ for USA based 'Ice Cream Koan Collective'. He will be warming the crowd up with a selection of his favourite beats and tracks.
