Marlborough Civic Orchestra (MCO) presents another concert, titled Passionato, featuring two popular Late Romantic concerti with two extraordinary young New Zealand soloists, Caitlin Morris and Andrew Atkins.

Originally from Blenheim, Morris studied at Victoria University: New Zealand School of Music (NZSM), where she received numerous scholarships and prizes, including the Body/Harris Prize for best performance of a New Zealand work. As a soloist, she has performed with Nelson Symphony Orchestra, Tawa Orchestra, Wairarapa Community Orchestra, and most recently Elgar's Cello Concerto with the Wellington Chamber Orchestra. She will be performing the famous Cello Concerto by Dvorak.

To celebrate Rachmaninoff’s 150th anniversary of birth, pianist Andrew Atkins will also be performing the Russian composer’s second Piano Concerto. Another graduate from NZSM, Atkins studied piano performance under the tuition of Jian Liu and Richard Mapp. He later completed his Graduate Diploma in Conducting in 2017 under the tuition of Kenneth Young. He has performed as a soloist with various orchestras including Wellington Chamber Orchestra, and Manawatu Sinfonia, while maintaining a keen interest in both choral and orchestral conducting. Between 2017 and 2018, he served as Assistant Conductor to Orchestra Wellington.

The concert will be conducted by MCO’s Musical Director, Elgee Leung.
