We warmly invite you to our Open Day on Saturday 19th August from 9am - 10am. This will be a chance to see inside our classrooms and beautiful outdoor spaces, to meet and chat to our teachers and Principal and to learn more about Montessori education. It is a casual event, so feel free to come anytime between 9 and 10am.

Capital Montessori offers an authentic, high quality Montessori preschool programme for children aged 3-6 and a playgroup for 0-3 year olds and their caregivers. Sometimes children can start a few months before their third birthday, if there is space and if they are ready. The School combines a Montessori philosophy with New Zealand's National Early Childhood Education Curriculum - Te Whariki. Our programme is designed to open your child up to life - nurturing their independence, confidence, creativity and curiosity.

One of the first Montessori preschools in Wellington.
The school opened in 1987. We have two well-resourced 3-6 year classrooms - Kowhai and Koru - with 100% qualified and experienced teachers, and around 25 children in each class. Children attend preschool Monday to Friday from 8.30am until 1pm or 3pm each day, and we also run an extended day for enrolled children from 3pm - 5pm. We have an infant and toddler 0-3 playgroup facilitated by a Montessori parent that runs from Wednesday to Friday from 9am - 11am. We also offer a Holiday Programme during our short and long holiday breaks.

Surrounded by bush, just 10 minutes from the City:
Located in Kingston, close to the surrounding suburbs of Brooklyn, Mornington, Berhampore, Island Bay, Mount Cook and Newtown, the school is set in a beautiful, peaceful environment, with a large outdoor garden, including native and exotic trees, a flowform water sculpture and vegetable beds.

A caring community school: Our school is very special. It's a not-for-profit, parent co-operative run by a Principal and an elected Board of parents. It's a place where everyone's voice and contribution is valued and respected, and people care for each other and the environment.
