Mr & Mrs Macbeth of Dodson Valley Rd is set in the dressing room, right before the two actors are about to go stage. One of them is ready, the other is, well, Tom. What could possibly go wrong?

Written and directed by Gregory Cooper, the play stars Mark Hadlow (MAMIL, Peter Jackson’s King Kong and The Hobbit) and Lara McGregor (Netflix’s Clickbait and One of Us Is Lying) together again on stage, with an electricity that sizzles right through the audience. Mark and Lara play Tom and Jo Macbeth, a couple of actors who are also a married couple. It’s set in the dressing room before they go on stage in a new production of Macbeth. Jo’s ready, but Tom’s being an enormous git.

Crisp, sharp dialogue, revelations and discoveries on both sides provide moments of emotion, accusations and crackling synergy. With a crisis just before the interval, disaster seems imminent. The second half is filled with every actor's nightmare – being in the wrong play at the wrong time, especially when Taika Waititi is in the audience, casting for his Amazon-funded film version of the Shakespearian tragedy.

Enjoy a rollercoaster ride of comedy, drama, poignancy and explosive conflict, as these two-stage dynamos reveal the highs and lows of partnerships, on and off the stage. Mr & Mrs Macbeth of Dodson Valley Rd will appeal to everyone, even if you hate Shakespeare.

"a sublime masterclass in farce, physical comedy, gnawing vulnerability and on-point poignancy...a must-see treat” Theatreview

"Modern, fresh, funny, and helmed by two of the best and most experienced actors in New Zealand, Mr and Mrs Macbeth of Dodson Valley Road is a fast-paced crowd-pleaser and drew a standing ovation as the curtain fell.” Nelson Mail
