Manawatu Strongest Man and Woman 2023

The event has been a resounding success, and we are proud to once again present the Manawatū Strongest Man and Woman 2023 in The Square, Palmerston North, on Saturday 22nd April 2023. This is earlier than our usual date of October because it will also be a celebration of 6 years of the Manawatū Strength Club.

This year the Manawatū Strength Charitable Trust in collaboration with the New Zealand Strongman Series (NZSS) is leading the event.
The Manawatū Strength Club has a loyal and dedicated membership with members training together every week with the shared goal of gaining strength amongst a supportive environment while having fun. Strongman is an international sport with a huge following. It’s spectacular, energising and impressive to watch. It’s gruelling, thrilling and fulfilling to compete. Spectators can expect to see experienced competitors lifting big, and those giving it a go to test their strength.
The Manawatū region is home to some of the strongest athletes in New Zealand; National record holders in multiple sports, national Champions and has many athletes capable of international success in strongman. This is the reason we are collaborating with NZSS this year, to enable our athletes to qualify for national events and get exposure to international interest.

The Manawatū Strongest Man and Woman is a one-day event featuring the strongest of the strong in our region as well as offering novice classes for beginners and youth classes.
There will be four events for athletes including: Max Monster Dumbbell, Deadlift for reps, Conans Wheel, last man standing sandbag over var.

The 2023 competition includes 13 classes including the distinguished Open Men and Women classes where we aim to bring the strongest men and women from across the country.

Come down and watch some of NZs strongest people battle it out for our regional title and qualify for nationals!
