We are thrilled to welcome Christchurch-born pianist Jun Bouterey-Ishido back to the Chamber Gallery in Rangiora, where he will be joined by Portuguese violinist Matilde Loureiro.

Jun and Matilde’s programme will include Chopin Mazurkas, op 30 (piano solo), Schubert’s Fantasy in C major (violin and piano), and Beethoven’s Sonata in C Minor for violin and piano.

Jun studied with Veronica Van der Knaap, Diedre Irons and then Péter Nagy, completing his Bachelor of Music (Hons) at Canterbury University before pursuing postgraduate studies at the Liszt Academy (Budapest) and the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, graduating with a Master and Konzertexamen with Distinction. As well as receiving invaluable mentoring from Rita Wagner, Jun has had masterclasses with renowned pianists including Alfred Brendel, Edith Fischer, Ferenc Rados and András Schiff.

Matilde studied with Luís Cunha at the Conservatory of Lisbon and then with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, graduating with a Bachelor of Music with Distinction. She continued her postgraduate studies at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Academia Santa Cecilia in Portogruaro, Italy, participating in masterclasses with Gerhard Schulz, Rita Wagner and Ferenc Rados.

Since 2019, Matilde and Jun have jointly been directing a chamber music residency and festival in Trás-os-Montes, Portugal, presenting a varied repertoire in a rural setting.
