Wellington Comedy's next Q&A session is with two of our most experienced performers, Jeremy Elwood and Eli Matthewson. A chance to ask advice about stand up comedy, MCing, and working in film and television, writing, and any other questions you might have.

Jeremy Elwood
Jeremy is a 25 year veteran of the New Zealand comedy scene. From solo shows to international festivals, private events to business awards evenings, Jeremy has done it all with his trademark combination of topical comedy, social commentary and political satire.
Formerly head writer on Three’s The Project, and a regular contributor to RNZ’s The Panel and Three’s 7Days, Jeremy has also appeared on numerous TV and stage productions both in New Zealand and internationally. He has headlined comedy clubs and festivals across New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Singapore and the UK, and performed in places as far-flung as Papua New Guinea, East Timor, Indonesia and the Chatham Islands.
He is a multiple NZ Comedy Guild award winner, including “Best Male Comedian” twice, and a former nominee for the Billy T Award. He has also worked in theatre as an actor, writer and director including lead roles at The Court Theatre (Christchurch), Fortune Theatre (Dunedin), Bats (Wellington) and The Basement (Auckland).

Eli Matthewson
Eli Matthewson burst onto the local television scene in 2013, starting out as a music presenter for TVNZU. Since then, he has appeared as a panelist on 7 days, as well as an actor and writer for Funny Girls and Jono and Ben. He has featured on Rhys Darby’s mockumentary Short Poppies and comedy series Funny Girls, both acting and writing skits. Eli is now a leading voice in the modern New Zealand comedy scene, earning accolades across the nation and abroad. He is a two time Billy T Awards nominee, double winner of Auckland Fringe’s Best Comedy Award, and in 2017 was a nominee for NZ’s top comedy honour - The Fred Award.
