Join Canterbury Film Society for our Monday night screening of The Nun (Jacques Rivette • 1966 • 140 mins • France • R16)
In pre-revolutionary France, Suzanne is a young woman pushed by her aristocratic family into a nunnery, forcing her to take the vow. She soon realises that she has become a prisoner to the Church and is at the mercy of a spiteful Mother Superior. "Might be one of the greatest prison movies ever made and certainly one of the most controversial." (Justin Chang, LA Times)
The Canterbury Film Society offers weekly screenings of top-quality films – arthouse, classic, cult, documentary, world cinema and more – on the big screen. We screen on Monday night at 7.30pm, doors open 7.00pm with drinks and home-baked food for purchase.
