The name Belly Dance is a western translation from the original Arabic name raqs sharqui, simply meaning Oriental Dance. It originates in the Middle East and North Africa, mainly Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey as a social dance, an integral part of those cultures. We teach and dance mainly Egyptian “Raqs Sharqi” and Egyptian folklore, to Egyptian/Arabic music.
