Life is always easier when we learn tips, tricks and pitfalls to avoid. In this presentation we look at how luck and misconceptions come into play with photography. We look at how to see light and apply this to our photographs, how to add emotion to your images, and use play to learn. Lastly, we will touch on photographic projects and why we need them, and how to get the most out of your hard, captured images. These suggestions have all come about from learning or experiencing them the hard way. Hopefully you can take some of these ideas and apply them to your photography without the difficult learning curve.

Helen McLeod first picked up a camera when she was a student, but her photography had to be put on hold while other avenues were pursued. Following the Canterbury Quakes, she set up 2 Galleries - 4 Seasons Photography and worked in numerous and diverse genres of photography. Helen now tutors in photography and editing techniques around the country in both a private capacity with her landscape and Photoshop workshops based in Central Otago, and for educational institutes.

Helen is a national and international award-winning photographer with her fine art compositions winning a number of accolades. She has also exhibited around the world and is represented by local galleries in Christchurch.
