Helen offers a whole being practice of slow natural movements and flows that are kind and nourishing to the body. Integrating mindful self-awareness with movement and rest to encourage nervous system resilience, and return you to a state of wholeness or feeling at home in yourself.

You are encouraged to practice at your own pace and cultivate a foundation that supports your body and breath rhythm in the present moment.

This term we will be exploring the use of various props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters and chairs to facilitate comfort and ease of movement to meet you where you are at. We will learn balance in motion, agility, strength and mobility movements, and neuromuscular awareness. All classes include pranayama (breathwork), yogic principles and finish with a delicious relaxation to invigorate the body and restore peace of mind.

All bodies are warmly welcomed.
Bookings are essential.

Please bring a Yoga mat and wear comfy clothes you can move and sit in easily. Props will be available for your use.

We follow the covid 19 requirements as set out by Exercise NZ. You will need a vaccine pass to enter the YWCA building at this stage. Testimonials
"Helen’s teaching style makes every individual feel like they are completely capable of practicing yoga. Fit or unfit, varying body shapes, Helen's Yoga welcomes all. I find that with every class, my body and mind become more healthy and rejuvenated." - Elle

"For almost 50 years I have practised many forms of yoga and I still can’t touch my head to my knees! During previous yoga classes, my mind and body was relaxed, however, I didn’t feel any long-lasting effects. Since doing somatic yoga with Helen, I have rediscovered my mind, body, spirit connection. Helen teaches us that yoga is not about making the body do physical postures, but rather allowing the body and mind to integrate and unwind together allowing habitual patterns to dissolve. Helen’s compassionate way of teaching and her in-depth knowledge of this subject is instrumental in me getting back in touch with my body through the gentle, subtle ( yet profound ) exercises. I feel I have come home to my body". Trisha

"I have previously done a Yoga Day with Helen and it was just perfect for me. It was so nice to have a whole day set aside to spend time on my mental, physical and spiritual well being. I would highly recommend a Yoga Day with Helen. She is an incredible teacher, grounded, warm and welcoming. Her day was the perfect balance of movement, mediation, making connections and passing on of knowledge. My yoga practice has gone from a once a week session with Helen to practicing almost every day now and I credit this to what I learnt on her yoga day." - Linda
