Songbirds of the South brings together a superb lineup of top South Island singers/songwriters and musicians for an evening of first-class acoustic roots, jazz & blues.
Scottish-born Celtic soul blues siren Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell aka Ma Bell has been touring her Songbirds show in the upper South Island and now moves it a little closer to home to the Waimakariri district of Canterbury. The Historic Ohoka Hall will once again be transformed into an acoustic music club to welcome Ma Bell & Guests.
Guests include the Manuka Hunnies - a four-piece women's collective featuring award-winning musicians Lynette Diaz (singer-songwriter) with guitarist Susan Leigh Grant, Nicole Reddington on cello and Sophie Bidwell on vocals & piano accordion.
Soulful powerhouse vocalist Lisa Tui Jonathan performs alongside Matt Davis on Saxophone and Nelson-based singer Debra Lee, a consummate song interpreter whose signature spells sass & sensitivity joins the impressive lineup of Songbirds
Ma Bell who produces and hosts the shows will present a selection of original compositions, classic jazz blues and fresh arrangements of timeless covers accompanied by John Bevin and Michael Kime.
