Remembering Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Many people across our district will be feeling a deep sense of loss following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Mayor David Trewavas and Reverend Robert Kereopa would like to advise the Taupō community of a Civic Memorial Service in respect of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The memorial service is to be held at St Andrew’s Anglican Church in Taupō at 3pm, Tuesday 27 September.

The service will be approximately an hour, where attendees are invited to remember the Queen, her service and time she spent in the Taupō district in the past.

The Queen and the Royal Family have a close association with the Taupō district, having stayed at Huka Lodge several times, and visiting St Andrews Anglican Church with her husband Prince Philip during her Golden Jubilee visit to New Zealand. Her parents also visited in 1927, they were the Duke and Duchess of York at the time.

When the bagpipes sound there will be opportunity for quiet reflection on the life of Her Majesty. There will also be a remembrance book for the community to sign.

It will be a service that our whole community can commemorate, and all are welcome to attend.
