It’s Toast Martinborough weekend, and Featherston Booktown, in partnership with Property Brokers Featherston, is delighted to invite you to a glorious conversation with famous food writer and Instagram star, Nici Wickes and best-selling author Nicky Pellegrino. Plus, the Property Brokers Artisan Food Fair is back!

It’s the most mouth-watering, enticing afternoon out, full of local specialist food producers, cookbook stalls, and exciting talent.

Enjoy browsing the Property Brokers Artisan Food Fair at your leisure from midday to 3:00 PM, finding the perfect Christmas presents for those hard to buy for, and then join us for the cherry on top - an hour-long conversation with Nici and Nicky on the joys of living the best life solo, the challenges of menopause, easy, delicious, no-fuss recipes and sharing a lockdown life on social media.

Nici Wickes writes and publishes cookbooks and is a broadcaster, food stylist, recipe developer (Women’s Weekly), and food editor (Viva, NZ Herald).

She’ll be showcasing her latest cookbook ‘A Quiet Kitchen’. In it, she shares her favourite lockdown recipes. Nici is all about cooking that tastes incredible and is low-fuss and confidence-building. “I just love showing others how easy it is to cook something absolutely amazing.” She did just that during the lockdown, posting videos on social media of herself making dinner, and encouraging people to create special meals for themselves.

Nicky Pellegrino is a best-selling novelist who has written eleven books based in Italy. “They are filled with food, friendship, love, and the kinds of people who will feel like they’re your friends.” Born in Liverpool, she spent childhood summers with her extended family in southern Italy. Her stories are full of memories of those summers in Italy: the passions, the feuds, and mainly the food.
With her new book ‘Don’t Sweat It', Nicky takes us on a new adventure – through menopause. “I worked in female-dominated offices for years. My colleagues talked about their pregnancies and their PMS… but never did I ever hear anybody mention that they were menopausal,” she says.

Books will be for sale and signed after the event. Featherston bookstore, Chicken and Frog, will be selling a range of Nicky Pellegrino's books.
