In this two-day workshop run by Iza Lozano, you will be able to experiment with shapes and contrasting volumes, upscale your work, and discover other ways of building objects using the potter’s wheel by wheel-throwing clay segments and assembling them.
Day one will begin with Iza demonstrating her wheel-throwing technique, then participants will throw their own segments. Day two will feature a second demonstration, followed by trimming, basic paper clay making and joining segments.
If possible, attendees should bring a basic pottery tool kit (sponge, cutting wire, wooden knife, wooden shark fin rib, steel rib, needle tool and trimming tools) and a ruler or calipers.
This workshop, suitable for intermediate skill level, will be held on Thursday October 6 (10am to 5pm) and Saturday October 8 (10am to 1pm). Participants must be comfortable with throwing 1-2kg of clay.
Bisque firing of finished pieces can be arranged for an additional cost. Details will be available at the workshop.
