The Curve Collective Presents: Lyttleton Clothing Swap!

Over the years we've gathered a large number of clothes to donate left over from markets and stalls, but thought we'd try something new and give a local clothing swap a go! We're also excited to be running this event for ALL SIZES.

How does it work?

The clothing swap is $5 entry to fill a bag (BYO bag)

Bring a minimum of two items to contribute to the swap (no maximum)

You can drop off your items at the venue (The Top Club in Lyttelton) the week leading up to the event or on the day between 10am - 11am. Drop off your items and then hang around for a drink or pop down to the market for a coffee and come back at 11:30am for the start of the swap!

Be mindful about what you bring and make sure the garments you bring are in good condition. If you wouldn’t feel comfortable gifting it to a friend, then you probably shouldn’t be bringing it to a swap! Clothing swaps are not just a place to discard clothing items that are beyond wear. So please don’t bring items that are dirty or damaged.

Please avoid donating underwear, electronic appliances, soiled clothing (heavily stained, torn, generally unwearable) as we will not be accepting them. Other accessories such as jewelry, shoes and handbags are welcome.

What happens if your clothes do not get swapped? Your leftover items will be donated to a charity in Christchurch.

______________________________________

Did you know the fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries on the planet? The fashion industry currently produces 10% of the global carbon emissions; and according to the World Bank, 20 percent of water pollution globally is caused by textile processing, making it the second biggest polluter of freshwater resources on the planet!

We can do our bit by trying to extend the lives of our clothes, purchasing higher quality items, and buying second hand.

Clothing swaps are an easy way to extend the lives of the clothes we no longer wear as often, and is also a great way to make some room in your closet for something new and sustainable. Plus it's super affordable! Profits from the clothing swap goes towards future Curve Collective events that are sustainable and inclusive.
