Buckminsterfullerine Trio embark on a journey from despair to hope with a programme representing the remarkable tenacity of the human spirit to endure hardship.
Featuring Rachminoff’s Trio Elegiaque, Elgar’s famous cello Concerto and Chopin’s Nocturne no. 20 in C# minor for violin and piano, they also pay tribute to the father of Ukranian music, Mykola Lysenko, with his evocative and moving work “Moment of despair” arranged for violin and piano from his Personal Album Op. 40 for piano.
They follow with Shostakovich’s Piano trio no. 1 Op.8 and then conclude with Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla’s Invierno Porteno (Winter in Buenos Aires) as the journey concludes with the promise of springtime ahead.
This concert is brought to you with the generous support of the Auckland Libraries Heritage Trust.
