Effervescence is a jazz collaboration that brings you well-known jazz standards and original jazz compositions in fresh, sparkling and elegant interpretations. Since their inaugural concert at One2One Cafe in Ponsonby in 2019, they have widely performed in well-known jazz venues such as The Downbeat Restaurant, Botticelli Restaurant and also several concerts at The Lounge in Howick.

Mike Murane on vocals is well known in the Auckland jazz scene having played with many of Auckland’s top-line artists. He has a polished and swinging vocal style that’s ideal to the standards made popular by Sinatra and Bennett. Mike’s attention to detail is matched by a captivating and engaging performance.

Niduk Wijetilleke on piano is a graduate from Berklee College of Music in USA and arrived in New Zealand in 2016. Since then he has widely performed as a solo pianist and with groups. His spiritual and sophisticated approach to jazz makes him a much sought after performer.

Guy Halpe plays standard, fretless and upright basses. Guy’s background in violin and viola with orchestras overseas gives him a uniquely melodic and non-modal approach to bass playing.

Rick Roff (Trumpet and Flugelhorn) was born in New York City and moved to New Zealand when he was a teenager. In the 1980’s he established several restaurants that featured jazz bands and he would play along with them. In 2007 he moved back to the US and played regularly in New York City and New Orleans. He returned to Auckland in 2018 and since then has been a featured performer in many jazz bands in Auckland.

Guest registration required at time of entry.
