Join us to hear renowned New Zealand director, producer and screenwriter Dame Jane Campion talk about her love of books, her international success and what inspires her at a special fundraising event for Katherine Mansfield House & Garden.
Dame Jane’s achievements are legendary. Her many awards include the Palme d’Or, two Academy Awards, and the Silver Lion. Books and writers have played an important role in her creative life; they have inspired her films 'An Angel at My Table', 'The Portrait of a Lady', 'Bright Star', and 'The Power of the Dog'. Her original screenplays include 'The Piano', 'Holy Smoke!', and 'The Top of The Lake'.
Doors open at 6pm when the evening will begin with a glass of Hunter’s Wines’ award-winning MiruMiru™ and delicious canapés. A non-alcoholic option will also be available.
This event is being held to raise funds for our Category 1 Historic Place and writer’s museum in Thorndon, which is open six days a week. We offer an annual programme of events and activities designed to encourage creativity and we host school and tour groups to share the life, literature and legacy of Katherine Mansfield. Jane is one of our valued Vice-Patrons and we are thrilled to have her support for this event.
