Alchemy

Alice Lewis and Jan Cole are two Banks Peninsula artists from Diamond Harbour and are exhibiting from the 19th of February until the 13th of March. The exhibition, "Alchemy" is on daily at the Orion Powerhouse Art Gallery Akaroa from 10am-4pm daily. This exhibition is a fine example of Alice Lewis's works including sculptures of Oamaru stone and metal, a number of big and bold paintings on building paper, and old pieces of wood weathered with metal rings from the Lyttelton Marina.

Jan Coles trained in Landscape Architecture at Gloucester College of Art. Her experience of being out in the wilds of working in the elements, capturing the essence of the place is where she is happy most. Her stunning art work is usually done in the field and are inspired by her many treks and sketching created in her home in diamond Harbour. They are an attempt to reflect the layering of the landscape and also the myths and memories of creatures gone before.
