Come create some make-up movie magic with industry professional Warren Dion Smith who has worked Special Effects, Makeup Department or Art Department on massive films such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, King Kong, Elysium, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Mortal Engines, Mulan and Avatar 2 - just to name a few.
This workshop is perfect for those interested in prosthetics, makeup, and hair for stage and screen. It will be an exciting three days of learning new skills and developing your own character on a supplied model. No previous experience required!
This hands-on practical course will teach make-up artistry skills, how to apply and remove prosthetics, wigs, and makeup. You will have the opportunity to create a character of your choice onto a model. It could be a fantasy character, supernatural creature, turning a young person into an elderly person or a visitor from another planet - the limit is your imagination.
Another bonus of this workshop is you can learn ways to create these special effects at home! Even the top professionals need to work on a budget and your recycling bin can be your creative partner - using products you can find around your house to create intricate wigs, and face casts and costumes.
About the Tutor
Hair, makeup and special effects artist, Warren Dion Smith exudes talent and flair. Some of his best-known work has been in movies, including King Kong, The Hobbit, Daffodils, Mulan and Spiderman 2. He has travelled extensively with Sir Richard Taylor, representing Weta Workshop on tourism production and consumer products. Warren has created hair for NZ Fashion Week and is a strong supporter of Maori indigenous creativity. He has been a Hito assessor for the Government’s NZ Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation and is a constant inspiration for up-and-coming stylists.
He has been a guest artist at Absolutely Positively Wellington conventions in Singapore and attended the opening of the first World of Wearable Art exhibition in the United States as a motivational speaker. He is truly an artist who has taken his talent to the world.
