Alan was among the first hardy few planting grapes here in the 1980’s, and his career and success is interwoven with that of our valley, as together he worked with growers and winemakers to refine the iconic flavours which are now instantly recognisable as ‘Gibbston’. From Gibbston Valley to Mount Edward and now onto Alan’s ‘retirement project’ Wild Irishman, Alan continues to make exquisite wines in Gibbston and Alexandra.
Join Alan as he takes us on a journey throughout the decades of Central Otago’s wine history, and how winemakers and techniques have evolved to let the grapes and terroir shine, and allow for optimal sub-regional expression.
Don’t miss this chance to spend some time tasting some of the stunning Wild Irishman 2020 wines about to be released, as well as a rare chance to meet one of Central Otago’s finest humans. And stay on to hear Alan’s daughter sing at our Sunday Live Session!
