Te Hau Kōmaru

Te Hau Kōmaru starts with Te Toki Voyaging Trust in Waitohi-Picton on a voyage of support and education. Many people of Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa, the Pacific Ocean, whakapapa to some of the most incredible voyagers, explorers, scientists and innovators the world has ever seen. This programme will reconnect tamariki and their whānau with the knowledge of their ancestors.

*Whanau can learn a range of waka hourua activities that include a star dome experience, learning sailing basics on a land rig, and a learning about a star compass and the building of waka. (Note: This programme runs until 23 April.)

*Ocean voyaging waka Hinemoana waka is sailing from Kawhia to Waitohi-Picton and will be open for public visits at the Fishermen's Wharf (next to Marlborough Sounds Adventures). Please be aware the arrival day of Hinemoana is dependent on weather conditions.

*The Tuia Mātauranga Truck will also be in Picton to give an interactive experience of the true history of Aotearoa New Zealand. (The Tuia Mātauranga Truck will be open to the public until 24 April.)
