Become a Stroke Champion and walk or run the streets of Wellington. You can choose between the 6.5km, 10km and 21km distance so there’s something for everyone.
Thanks to our team of supporters in 2020, we now have a Big Blood Pressure Check Van operating in the lower North Island. In the van, we can offer free blood pressure and atrial fibrillation checks as well as share information about ways to reduce stroke risk. High blood pressure is the number one modifiable risk factor for stroke but a third of New Zealanders don’t even know they have high blood pressure. Having a simple check could help to save thousands of lives. This year, we know that over 11,000 New Zealanders are estimated to experience a stroke, but thanks to your support we can help to lower this number.
The challenges we are facing this year means that we need you now more than ever to support our vital health promotion efforts. By running for the Stroke Foundation, you’ll be supporting our Big Blood Pressure Check Van, which provides free blood pressure checks in the lower North Island.
