What is roller derby?

Roller derby is a full contact sport played on roller skates around a flat oval track.
Each team has one Jammer and four Blockers on the track at once in periods of two minutes. Jammers score points by passing Blocker’s on the opposing team, and Blocker’s help their Jammer get points and stop the opposing Jammer passing them! Many Referees and Non Skating Officials around the track make sure the game is safe and fair!

Still confused? Come and watch — it makes sense when you see it, we promise!

— We are forever grateful to our sponsors. Thank you Garage Project, Te Aro Physiotherapy, Form Massage, Iko Iko, Aotearoller skate gear, and Rich Coffee Roasters: we love youse. —
