with Miranda Harcourt, ONZM

Limited to 20 people, aged 16 and over. It is a prerequisite that you have already done Miranda’s beginners’ level masterclass to be eligible for this advanced masterclass. Only a few places left.

The Course:
This course will be in the form of a masterclass where participants are directed in scenes and monologues. There will be a strong emphasis on contemporary screen naturalism and on verbatim text. Participants will receive detailed direction and be expected to perform the monologue and scene for camera. They will also have the opportunity to observe other classmates and engage fully in the rehearsal process. Slideshows, clips and exercises play a strong part in the learning process. Scripts are provided by the tutor.
About Miranda
Miranda is a director and acting coach. She began her career working in prisons in New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Now she is a renowned acting coach, working with actors and directors on films all over the world.
Miranda is coach to Nicole Kidman amongst many other actors. She was the acting coach on the Oscar-nominated and Bafta-winning film Lion and worked again with Garth Davis on Mary Magdalene.
She has just completed her first feature as co-director with Stuart McKenzie, the YA classic The Changeover.
She specializes in developing ways to create connection and intimacy.
For seven years Miranda was the Head of the Acting Department at Toi Whakaari — New Zealand Drama School. Since she became an independent coach, directors she has worked with include Jane Campion, Peter Jackson, Morten Tyldum and Garth Davis. Actors include Nicole Kidman, Juliette Binoche, Dev Patel, Josh Hutcherson, Saoirse Ronan, Isabelle Fuhrman, AnnaSophia Robb and many others.
Miranda teaches at AFTRS and The Hub in Sydney, at The London Film School in the UK, at Toi Whakaari, The Actors’ Program and Victoria University in NZ and by Skype with individual clients all over the world.
