Concerts for Christchurch Foundation Trust Presents Madame Tragedie & Accomplices - The Lady Sings the Blues.
An afternoon of classic blues and Jazz with Scottish born folk blues-jazz singer-songwriter and producer Isabella (Izzy) Miller Bell aka Ma Bell accompanied by four of the South's leading jazz musicians featuring Tom Rainey ( Piano) Bob Heinz (guitar) Michael Kime (Upright bass) & Reuben Derrick on Sax and clarinet.
The programme features original compositions alongside classics from the 1930's -50's including songs by Irving Berlin, Leonard Feather, Artie Butler, Billie Holiday, Johnny Mandel with a special interpretation of the hauntingly beautiful Gloomy Sunday by Hungarian composer Rezso Seress.
This will be an inspired concert not to be missed as five of the countries leading jazz and blues musicians come together to re-visit The Lady Sings the Blues, a Billie Holiday Tribute concert presented in The Great Hall on Sunday afternoon August 31st 1997.
