FAQs
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Nope, this is a family-friendly event. Fun for all!
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

As the venue is a 30min drive from Auckland CBD, the majority of festival-goers drive to the venue. Shuttle services from the CBD will be provided - but be quick - Purchase "CBD Shuttle Bus - Return Ticket" to be announced soon.

Please note that public transport to the venue is limited. You've been warned.
Can I just pay for the Shuttle bus on the day?

No, you must purchase your shuttle bus tickets here. To be announced.
Is parking provided?

Yes, we have free parking at the festival on a first-come-first-served basis. We have a lot of parking space, but if you arrive too late for on-site parking, then please park safely (i.e., not on the main highway!) on the side roads, and walk to the site.
What can/can't I bring to the event?

As conditions of entry, you cannot bring your own colours or food into the venue. These will be available for purchase at the venue. Also, no alcohol, smoking, or recreational drugs permitted onsite - the event is family-friendly and on temple grounds. - Please see detailed conditions of entry here: http://conditions.holi.org.nz
Where can I contact the organisers with any questions?

You can use the contact organiser buttons on the right-hand side to get in touch. Sooner the better - questions sent a week before won't get a look in as we will be crazy busy and likely a bit grumpy :-)
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You only need to print your prepaid colours and CBD bus tickets. Colours will be sold on the day as normal also.
Will Colours / Food be available for sale on the day?

Yes. Colours are $5 per bag (20% discount for prepaid colours purchased here) Food stalls throughout the event offer food at various prices.
What is the colour powder made from? Is it safe?

Our colours are made from food-grade corn starch and are non-toxic. In past festivals, we had a handful of people needing their eyes washed out by St John's ambo who are on-site for minor issues. As with most things, common sense prevails, if you have medical conditions that would be aggravated by corn starch dust, it would best to stay away from the main crowd by the stage.
Will the colours wash out of me and my clothes?

They will wash out of you and eventually from clothing. Best not to bring your designer wears. Recommended clothing colour is white of course! Bring something to cover your car seats for your ride home also.

People with very light coloured hair, the colours may in limited cases stay in your hair longer. You have been warned. You can google various methods others have used to minimise the time taken for light coloured hair to recover.
Can I bring my kids?

Yes! We don't have any age restrictions and aim to be family-friendly. But remember, you are responsible for any minors you bring. Please be mindful that it is a large event with thousands of people. Keep very young children away from the main stage because of the loud sound and packed dancing crowds. There is plenty of open space for small kids to enjoy the festival and play with colours.
Is this a commercial Holi Festival?

Nope - this Holi event is run and supported by a registered charity, volunteers, and donors/sponsors.

This is the real deal Holi and not a for-profit "Holi-inspired" event with commercial motives. We have introduced a few innovations such as the colour throws and dance music, but remain loyal to the cultural and spiritual roots of the celebration
