The Finalists Concert of the Dunedin Concerto Competition in partnership with the Dunedin Symphony Orchestra (DSO) and the Dunedin Youth Orchestra (DYO) is here with three young musicians Abhinath Berry (piano), Boudewijn Keenan(cello) and Rose Stevenson (violin), our finalists. We celebrate their incredible talents in the Dunedin Town Hall, conducted by Anthony Ritchie.
The DYO performs the beauty and drama of Schubert's Unfinished Symphony and McLeod's Little Symphony, contrasted with some lively dance music by Grieg, Dvorak and Kodaly in the first half of the concert. The DSO, with some DYO members in its ranks, accompanies the finalists in the second half of the concert, performing Liszt's Totentanz (piano), Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto and Barber's Violin Concerto.
Wonderful music brilliantly played, and three talented and aspiring young soloists. A celebration of our musical youth not to be missed accessible at affordable ticket prices! Free entrance to primary and secondary school children.
