Step inside the competitive world of the Auckland Central Walking Tour scene, as two cousins, battle it out to be the walk of the town.

Ben and Gary, two cousins, and once friends who shared a passion for Auckland, walking, tours and New Zealand ad jingles. Growing up in Levin, they loved living in Levin. But, there was something missing. Something that made them feel incomplete. All through their childhood, they dreamed of the utopia that is Auckland. A utopia built by the ads that they listened to. They thought that only by experiencing could they find out whether there really was nothing a Crown. They yearned for that Rainbow kind of magic. They questioned whether King’s Plant Barn actually had everything they needed.

After years of trying, they finally made it click, and started a business together, in their utopia. Their goal, a simple one: to run the best Auckland City walking tour in Auckland. Due to what they believe are unforgivable differences, the two cousins decide to branch out on their own. Their fight is over their company’s jingle. Both cousins have created what they believe is the perfect jingle and refuse to let their hard song-writing go to waste. The only problem is, they are both very stubborn people and are refusing to give up the original business, or company name, or starting point, or starting time, or reception kiosk. To get ahead in this walking race, they have resorted to undercutting each other in any way possible. But there can’t be two ‘Best Auckland Central Metropolitan Auckland City Walking Tour’ groups, so who will win the tour-nament? Can they both walk the walk, or will one have to walk the plank?

Presented by the Waiwera Hot-pools Preservation Society as a part of Auckland Fringe Festival.

Devised by Alexandra Andrews, Ben Shand-Clennell, Gary Hofman and Irene Corbett
