On Waitangi Day (Saturday 6th February), we're throwing open the doors of Antrim House to allow people to look through parts of the house not usually open to the public. Staff will be on-site to share some of the stories of Antrim's history.
Atop its grand hill, Antrim House sits proudly among the towering office buildings of Boulcott Street.
Come and see the contrast between the Edwardian fine style and ornate ceilings of the ground floor, and the stripped-back 1940s style of the top floor renovated after a significant fire in 1940. Learn more of the history of the house, built for shoe-magnate Robert Hannah and his family back in 1904, but also used as a hotel, a hostel, and now as the headquarters of Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga.
Bring your lunch and have a picnic in the garden if you like.
No booking is required.
Cost: Koha welcome
