The Pointon Collection of Cars & Costume, opens again at Queen's Birthday Weekend, with a new display of original vintage clothing from around 100 years ago. Just as we have been through tough times, they did too with the 1st World War followed be the Influenza outbreak. Interesting times, portrayed by the original clothes that were worn way back then.
With an early wedding display showing the bride in her 1913 gown, plus the groom, bridesmaid, flower girl, ring bearer & guests - wonderful clothes. Then there's the widow, left with a baby after the war - we show the christening with guests in black & the baby in a fabulous embroidered silk gown from 1916. We also have the laundry and the bedroom, both scenes showing more clothes from 100 years ago.
Come & step back to this time. Of course we have the cars & motorcycles from this era too, plus the museum has more vehicles & a vast array of automobilia through to 1947.
Visitors are welcome although we would appreciate a phone call 063786710 or email pointonmotors@xtra.co.nz to confirm a visit. Charges apply no eftpos.
This display continues until Sunday 2nd August 2020.
