Friends of Vogelmorn are delighted to invite you to the first in a series of live music gigs at the beautiful Vogelmorn Hall.

Let’s help support our local live music community to get back on its feet after the trials and tribulations of the past few months. And, at the same time, warm our cockles and soothe our souls with an evening of sultry and salubrious sounds.

Brooklyn locals, French for Rabbits have toured their ethereal dream-pop extensively around the world – playing more shows in the US than they did at home in 2019. Like all of us they have their feet firmly planted on home soil this year though, and will be popping down to the hall (perhaps even on foot) to perform a stripped back duo set of material from their growing catalogue of songs which rove through topics from environmental advocacy and seafaring to hoarding and cats. They are currently working on their third record, and recently released lock-down single ‘The Tunnel’ alongside an autumnal video which captures the season. (https://youtu.be/rvU4rh2uTOQ)

Ida Lune is a band born and grounded in Wellington. Members Anna Wooles, Deanne Krieg, and Rose Blake bring together their training in contrasting styles including jazz, classical, and electronic music to inform their emotive compositions. The trio take pride in their detailed three-part harmonies and interweaving melodies which are enhanced by layers of synth and strings. (https://youtu.be/_C8hrau7rbk)

MC Phanny is a brand new solo project from Dr.Reknaw’s Sophie Cooper - a soulful, mellow, silky-smooth blend of rnb, hiphop and downbeat electronica with jazz sensibilities. Sophie’s touchingly honest, open, earthy-ethereal voice sails on a sea of solid, head-nodding beats, catchy melodic hooks and luscious tonescapes.

This inaugural event is a sit-down, cabaret-style affair. Bring your own drinks and snacks, or order a delicious takeaway meal from Damascus Cafe (DAMASCUSok) located in the Vogelmorn Bowling Club just across the green, and enjoy dining in the hall before the show starts.

$20 or $35 including dinner from Damascus.
