Spex and Steve have a great show with an amazingly full sound for just 2 musicians.
They have been doing this together for a few years and have got it down to a fine art.
Every time I see them it just gets better and better.

They are 2 very seasoned musicians and are both great sound people and so it is always a well-balanced sound on stage.

They are both incredible musicians, great guitar players with fantastic voices.
It is not often we have a Grammy award artist playing for us in Palmerston North but tonight is the night.

Also appearing in the show will be Des Mallon a New Zealand Hall of Famer, a Wellington Jazz school graduate and an ex-member of Upper Hutt Posse. Des is a great drummer guitar player, tonight he will feature on both guitar, percussion and drums. Geoff Culverwell a well-known horn and flute player who has played with more people than i can mention will also be bringing his many talents to the stage.

Also appearing will be Anthony Kingi on Guitar.
This trio will be opening the show with a bit of blues a bit of Jazz and a smattering of Latin.
At the end of the show, they will be joining Steve and Spex on stage for a bit of a Jam which is when some very exciting music can happen.

International touring & recording artist, Grammy award winner, producer, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & guitarist Steve Poulton is set to return to the Bent Horseshoe for another stunning night of music.

Poulton’s musical journey began at age 10 when formal training began on the piano with lessons from Sister Sippron a Catholic Nun who would often fall asleep during the lessons.

Next, he took up the drums, trumpet, bass guitar & classical guitar. But it was when he heard the electric guitar sounds of Gary Moore his musical direction was set on a new course. Inspired by the rock bluestones, Poulton needed to be electrified. His first guitar amplifier was his Grandmother's phonograph player, which he modified to accommodate the electric guitar.

A passion for electronics and modifying his equipment has been a constant and to this day he builds and works on much of his own gear searching for the perfect tone. A touring artist since age 16, first in New Zealand than with visits to Australia, Europe, Canada and the United States where he ended up living for nearly 20 years. Poulton’s time in the USA is stained in his sound. It becomes evident when you hear his vocals and hear his versatility switching from acoustic fingerstyle guitar, to open-tuned dobro, to banjo & electric guitar.

Steve offers a fresh take on the music that has timelessly resonated with audiences through the generations. His musical style is a melting pot of folk, bluegrass, country, jazz, pop, blues & rock. The mix of his deep rich vocals & blazing guitar performances has captivated & moved audiences across the globe and make his live show a must for music and guitar fans alike.

Poulton is excited to again be teaming up with longtime friend & fellow musician Spex Bryant for a night of duos.

Spex is a seasoned professional musician and entertainer whose career has led him to play in rock, punk, blues, country & show bands throughout NZ & Aussie. He is regularly used as a studio musician at Tsunami Studio & has played on numerous recordings for other artists. He is an accomplished guitarist with a powerful rock voice that audiences love.

Spex has recently been a member of the Boss show which sold out at the Regent when it played there and Steve was doing the sound for the same show, these two guys have some real cred and are well worth seeing
