This classical concert returns to the Queenstown recital calendar. It features some of the most-loved pieces from opera, shows and classical repertoire - arias, solos and ensembles in a concert that spans the centuries.

Vocalist and singing teacher Sue Patterson and friends invite you to a concert of beautiful songs from opera and shows in the magnificent Thomas Brown Gallery, 3pm Sunday 16 February.

This year’s concert showcases a heart-warming display of local talent. Sue is joined by accompanist Jeanette Robertson, singers Sally Geddes, Simon Green, Tamaki Iida and Alan Pickard. Pianist Kana Tahakashi performs piano solos, accompanies Tamaki and joins Masa Nakazawa in piano duets.

Masa on piano teams up with Sheena Naughton and Lauren Christie, both on violin, for trios by Mozart. While Simon Green brings the power of Musical Theatre to the concert with songs from shows. A touch of jazz is added by Baritone Alan Pickard with Cole Porter pieces.

A highlight of the concert will be a thrilling song by Soprano Sally Geddes accompanied on violin by Sheena and Lauren, and John Bell on Guitar.

The recital features songs and instrumental pieces for the Valentine Season with music by Bernstein, Handel, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Cole Porter, Mozart, Purcell, Verdi, Delibes and Faure.

The Thomas Brown Gallery is an idyllic venue for music both vocally and visually with Thomas’s art and the gallery creating a charming and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy the performance.

Tickets $40 from Wilkinson’s Pharmacy, Summerfields Pharmacy and the Lakes District Museum on sale from 24 January.

Tickets include half time refreshments. Thomas Brown Gallery, Speargrass Flat Road, Lake Hayes, Queenstown. Attendees are advised to book early as tickets usually sell out and door sales will not be available.
