If you're inspired to plant natives in your garden, school, marae or to restore waterways and forest on lifestyle blocks or farms, it is satisfying and empowering to learn how to grow your own. Sourcing seed from your local area is best, but you'll need to know how to do this without spreading kauri dieback, when is the best time of year to collect seed, and how to work with different types of seed.

Learn how, when and where to collect native seeds and how best to grow them with our native plant nursery manager Christine Yates. This is a practical hands on workshop where you will learn some handy tips and tricks to get you started. Go for a walk around our grounds (which were planted with native pioneer species in 2005) and look at the native restoration plantings at Olympic Park and Waitahurangi Stream. Ages 12+. Brought to you by EcoMatters.

Accessible by bus, train.
Bookings required.
