As part of Rotorua Children’s Weekend celebrations there are a wide range of free family activities hosted in various venues around Rotorua over two fun-filled days.

The second of these family-friendly days will be the Redwoods Children’s Day on Sunday 15 March 2020 from 1.30pm until 4.30pm.

Children can enjoy an afternoon of free creative fun, nature-based stories, arts, music and forest adventures for the under 10s, their friends and families located at the beautiful Redwood Forest (Long Mile Road).

Free activities will include some annual favourites like forest games, storytelling, log dig, bucket fun, soundscapes, clay, paint, Taiko drumming, hut building and young artists alfresco art exhibition. And this year sees some new surprise activities including a full line up of young performers on the main stage.

Families are encouraged to bring along a picnic and share lots of laughs with the little people in our lives and treasure the time spent together.

The City Ride bus (route 3) goes to the end of Long Mile Road where you can wander through the Mokopuna Track to the clearing behind the Redwoods iSite, where most of the activities will be held – rain or shine.

The event is only possible with the support of many community organisations, local artists and a large troupe of talented volunteers, who join the Travelling Tuataras and Rotorua lakes Council for this special afternoon.

On Saturday 14 March 2020 from 10am until 3pm a range of community groups and organisations will work alongside Rotorua Lakes Council to celebrate children from around the world. Enjoy a wide range of activities with international flavour including crafts, music, games, story-time, face-painting, swimming and much more!

Grab your event passport from any of the following locations and collect stamps from each ‘country’ to be in to win.
