Featuring Rachel McAlpine performing from her new collection of poems, How to Be Old.
Wellington writer Rachel McAlpine was born in Fairlie and has lived in Golden Bay. How to Be Old is an explosion of humanity on the page with some practical tips from the author and sage advice from Elsie aged five.
Rachel is no slouch; she has been publishing for over 40 years – novels, poetry, plays, songs, a book on digital writing, and an anthology, Another 100 Poems for Children, which she edited. Rachel blogs and podcasts on living and ageing at writeintolife.com.
As with all Nelson Live Poets gatherings, Rachel’s performance will be followed by an open mic session. Bring a poem to share or enjoy what other local poets have to offer. Singer songwriters are also welcome. To read, simply sign up on the night. Gold coin koha entry.
