Moon Cycles is BACK! It's a Bike Rave but we're taking it Next Level. The Sensonauts in collaboration with Bicycle Junction and theatremaker Sabrina Martin present Moon Cycles - a Journey of the Senses. Originally scheduled for last March, this sold-out event was postponed due to Covid. We're stoked to confirm the new date, and this time with two shows.
Jump on your bike, cycle with us through the velvety darkness, and dance your heart out. On each stop of the journey, you'll open up another sense, with performance artists crafting experiences for you. Sound, sight, touch, smell and taste. Find out what sensations we have in store for you! It's both the Full Moon and Beltane, the pagan celebration of summer's return - so the time is ripe to explore and adventure under the orb of the night.
Bling your bike up with lights, adorn yourself with your glitziest costume and get ready to rave! This will be a fun and sensory evening, cruising through the streets of Wellington and discovering delights along the way.
On the decks, we have the fabulous DJ/producer/entertainer Marcos Alonso. His infectious grin will light up your night as he crafts a musical journey with his inimitable style. His eclectic, fun and deep tunes will amp up your dance moves and get your body grooving as we celebrate spring turning to summer!
We have a talented selection of moon-inspired contributors, with Sabrina Martin bringing the theatre, award-winning lighting designer Marcus McShane illuminating the darkness, and chef Mara Masarotti crafting intriguing vegan deliciousness. Other performers and collaborators might just be kept secret, to maximise your surprise...we'll see.
Don't have a bike or bit worried about fitness? No problem! There are discounted e-bikes for hire for this event, thanks to the generosity of Switched On Bikes - just choose the e-bike ticket option when you book. You will need to pick up your e-bike between 7-8 pm on the night, and return it either that night or by 10 am the next morning. Great chance to try one out if you've always wanted to.
The secret meeting point within the city centre will be sent to you several days before the event. Arrive from 8:30pm, and we'll start our bike rave at 9 pm on the dot when the sun is down and our lights are sparkling in the dark night!
Just in case, the backup rain date is Sun 1 Nov.
